What is a gas turbine flow meter?
A gas turbine flow meter is an instrument that measures the flow rate of the gas, which is available in the pipe. The equipment can do the flow measurement of the gas in four styles. Characteristics of it are as follows:
- The fluid collection is in the positive displacement meter. It collects the fixed amount of fluid in it accordingly. It prepares the tally of how much time it takes to fill it and determines its flow using the equipment. Then, it releases the fluid and refills the gas in it accordingly.
- The determination of the flow is possible when we know about the area from where to do the fluid measurement. Furthermore, you can check the fluid flow rate in a particular site.
- Some of the other methods depend on the flow of the stream forces, and it overpowers the indirect flow calculation and known constriction.
Different Styles of Flow Meters
- Direct Mass Flow: The natural mass flow determines the flow of mass from the meter. The two types of deserves are Coriolis and Thermal Mass. Coriolis is the type of flow meter that allows the mass flow's direct measurement that depends on the fluid defection. It moves through the vibrating tube. These meters provide high accuracy value with the capabilities for measuring the gases valuation in the devices. Coriolis flowmeters are expensive to purchase. It is not advisable to install these meters in the larger pipes. Thermal flowmeters do the measurements of the heat transfer in the equipment. There is no requirement of the additional pressure and temperature accuracy is required according to the need to keep in the large pipes. - Velocity: It is a meter type and the medium rate through which the meter determines the measurement. Turbine flow does the height of the volumetric flow of the fluid, which is flowing from the free-spinning rotor. Every rotation of it contains some specific value of the liquid in it. The vortex gas flow meter includes an obstruction path in it.
- Differential Pressure Meters: It does the calculation of the Natural Gas and LPG Meter by doing the measurement of the pressure drop over a particular period. The common elements are orifice plates, flow nozzles, averaging pilot tubes, and venturi tubes. Some of the limitations of this meter are the turndown issues and high operating costs. An average type of pilot tube is a kind of differential pressure useful to do the gas measurement. The common use of the device is to measure the combustion of the air accordingly. However, there are certain limitations in this device, such as the turndown and low-flow sensitivity.
Positive Displacement Gas Flow Meters: It is important to have the mechanically displaced components for measuring the volumetric flow of the gas in the operating temperature and pressure. There are moving parts present in it, and therefore, the user considers it for the cleanliness purposes of the gas. These types of devices come with sufficient accuracy, temperature compensation, and pressure to do the measurement of the gas valuation accordingly.
